About
Pam |

| I grew up in New Canaan, Connecticut. There, I attended a school where my mother was a teacher and my father was an administrator (the very one that kids got sent to when they didn't behave). That certainly made for an interesting situation! My brother, Bill, was four grades ahead of me and was a wonderful student. He loved nature, and he patiently collected and studied all sorts of critters. I tried to do what Bill did, although I was nowhere near as patient or quiet, and so my collections were smaller. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

We had a comical dog named Sausage Frankfurter
Weiner Schnitzel I was a tomboy. There were many more boys than girls in my neighborhood, so my best pals were boys. My favorite thing to do was ride ponies and horses. I also liked sports. My father didn't think that we should have

I expected that when I grew up I would work on a ranch or with Native Americans. Never did I imagine that I would become a school librarian and an author. Those jobs seemed too quiet! When I graduated from high school, I went off to college first to Skidmore College and then to New York University. I earned a degree in English. Next, I went to Rutgers University and earned a Masters Degree in Library Science. |

I have two daughters, Devin and Corrie. Theyre grown now. Devin is a lawyer and Corrie is a teacher. They each have little boys, so we have so we have now added Jack and Finn to our family. I also have two step-children, Will and Kathryn, also now grown. When all of us are together, we have lively times! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Bill and I have several pets. Maggie and Bailey are our barky, rambunctious dogs. Emily is our fussy and mischievous cat. And Charlotte the groundhog lives in our backyard; she inspired my book, Groundhog Gets a Say. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| For many years, I had two careers at the same time. I worked as a school librarian and as an author of books for children and teens. The two jobs fit nicely together, but I recently decided that it was time to become a full-time writer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I often visit schools and libraries
where I talk to kids and adults about writing. I also run writing workshops,
sometimes in person and sometimes on cable television. Its fun to use
my book A Writers Notebook as a It is my hope that I will be writing books for many, many more years, for it is truly a wonderful thing to be able to do. I feel very fortunate. |
